Jackie Tinnes Story
Jackie is a 30 year old, Colorado native…born and raised in Parker, Colorado. She attended University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO to earn her degree in Early Childhood Development. After college she moved to Mesa, AZ for a teaching job. During her 4 year residency there she taught all age groups from kindergarten to 6th grade.
In 2009 her sister Kendall gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She also gained a niece-in-law when her sister Lindsay was married and expanded her family to include another little girl. Jackie couldn’t stand to be away from the kiddos and decided to move back to Colorado so she could be a part of their everyday life. She moved back into her childhood home with her parents David and Karen and struggled to find a full time teaching job. After no luck with teaching jobs she became a teacher’s aide at Pine Lane Primary, and most recently took a teaching aide position at Saddle Creek Elementary School for a kindergarten class. In 2011 she became an aunt again, this time to her nephew.
Those of us who know Jackie know how much passion she has for teaching young children, and being such a huge influence in the life of her nieces and nephews. She enjoys youth groups and joining her church group at Journey Church on a weekly basis as well as hanging out with close friends and spending as much free time as possible with her family.
Recently Jackie was admitted to Parker Adventist hospital for what they thought was pneumonia. After several tests and cat scans they found several masses all throughout her body. After surgery and a biopsy and several excruciating days of waiting we were told that Jackie has a rare cancer of her bone and muscle called Desmoplastic Round Cell Tumor, stage 4 because of how far it has spread throughout her body. They started chemotherapy immediately and she has been fighting the battle of getting through the chemotherapy while trying to get strong enough to get out of the hospital. She had an extremely long road ahead of her with many obstacles, one including not having medical coverage and the worry of how all of this medical treatment is going to be paid for. Our goal with this fundraiser and the Silent Auction to follow in April at the Tailgate Tavern is to try to alleviate some of that stress from Jackie and her family.
Jackie passed away yesterday March 2, 2013. Please have her family and friends in your prayers.
RIP Jackie!
